A non-profit digital platform for Pondicherry
Pondy.org brings the city’s shops, services, places and information together in one place, in English and Tamil, for the people who live here and the people who visit. Pondy.org is a Managed Initiative of First World Community (FWC), run as a free community service and funded by sponsorship and advertising.
Pondy.org has shared information about Pondicherry since 1998 and now begins a new chapter under First World Community, which manages it today; in its earlier years it was run by others. Read our story.
Money goes to the seller
Customers pay shops and providers directly. Pondy.org does not collect product money and pass it on later.
Local businesses own their sales
Merchants keep their customers, prices and products. Small and independent businesses are welcome.
Truthful by design
No invented listings, ratings, availability or confirmations. Every place shows its source and whether it has been verified.
For everyone
English and Tamil today, French and Hindi next. Designed for small screens, slow networks and older residents.
Who pays whom
- Customers
- Pondy.org charges no platform commission or platform fee. You pay each shop directly for its goods, and your SuperStar directly for delivery.
- Merchants
- Pondy.org takes no percentage of your sales, so we ask you to offer genuinely competitive prices.
- SuperStars
- You keep 100% of every delivery fee (₹50 for one shop, ₹75 for two, ₹100 for three or four) and can earn more by distributing flyers, if you choose to.
- Sponsors and advertisers
- Your support keeps this community service running and gives you clearly labelled, agreed visibility. Sponsorship, advertising and donations are recorded separately.
